Taking the Crown: Victory at King of the Beach
The 2024 NORRA 500 King of The Beach concluded with exhilarating races, sportsmanship, and a deep sense of camaraderie, and BILSTEIN, the world-renowned suspension leader, played an integral role. Celebrating The Champions
BILSTEIN is thrilled to recognize the many racers equipped with BILSTEIN shocks who took on the grueling 2024 NORRA 500, pushing the limits of endurance and performance. Among the standout competitors, Ramon Castro claimed victory in the Pioneer Buggies division, with Jon Steinhilber taking 2nd in his Meyers Manx and Sol Saltzman dominating the Pioneer Trucks class.
A stand-out story from the weekend was Formula Drift racer Chris Forsberg, racing a Nismo Off Road / Nissan Frontier equipped with BILSTEIN’s cutting-edge B8 8125 coilovers and M 9200 (Bypass) shocks. After battling mechanical issues on Day 1, Forsberg’s tenacity shone through as he dramatically returned on Day 2 to claim 1st place in the Evolution Class 7100. His perseverance, coupled with BILSTEIN’s top-tier technology, underscored the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance in even the most challenging conditions.

Forsberg enlisted Alex Jagger to take the wheel for a stint on Day 2 as Co-Driver of the Frontier. Typically sliding sideways on the pavement in his FormulaD Pro Spec Drift Car, he handled the off-road machine successfully, contributing to the podium performance.
Each victory was powered not only by determination and skill but by the precision performance of BILSTEIN shocks, delivering the control and durability needed to conquer Baja’s toughest terrains. A highlight of the event was the BILSTEIN King of the Beach Timed Stage (SS03), the final and most critical stretch of Day 2. Here, Dave Mason Jr. captured the stage victory, setting the fastest time and securing his place among the best in the competition.

A hallmark of BILSTEIN’s presence in motorsport is the prestigious BILSTEIN Madonna Award, presented to Ramon Castro, who competed in the Pioneer Buggies class with his Sandwinder Buggy. Ramon is an iconic off-road racing figure with many accolades, including being a previous Madonna Award recipient. He also served as the 2024 NORRA 500 Grand Marshal.
This BILSTEIN Madonna Award, steeped in motorsport history, honors racers who exemplify resilience, character, and dedication to the sport. Castro’s consistent and spirited performance made him a deserving recipient, continuing the legacy of off-road legends.
